Accessibility
Everyone gets a seat.
Canopy is committed to a museum — and a website — that works for every visitor, of every ability. Here is what that means, and how to tell us what you need.
Our Commitment
Access is not an add-on at Canopy — it is part of how the place is designed, the same cognitive-load thinking that shapes the exhibits. We hold this website to WCAG 2.2 Level AA and review it as the site changes, and we work to remove barriers in the building wherever we find them.
In The Building
Getting around.
Step-free throughout
Ramps and elevators reach all three cars and every level. No part of the museum requires stairs.
Wheelchairs & mobility
Standard and pediatric wheelchairs are available at coat check, first-come, at no charge.
Service animals
Service animals are welcome everywhere in the building.
The Quiet Room
A low-stimulation space off the Main Concourse to step away and reset, open all day.
Quiet Car Mornings
Monthly sensory-friendly hours with lowered sound and light, before general admission.
Care assistant ticket
A personal care assistant accompanying a guest who needs support is always admitted free.
Family & nursing rooms
Family restrooms with changing tables on every level, and a private nursing room by the Station Café.
Sensory backpacks
Noise-reducing headphones, fidget tools, and a visual map of the cars to borrow at the front desk.
Planning a visit? The family visit guide covers hours, tickets, and what to expect.
On This Website
WCAG 2.2 AA.
- Conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
- Fully keyboard navigable, with a visible focus state on every interactive element.
- Text and interface colors meet AA contrast; color is never the only way information is conveyed.
- Every image carries descriptive alternative text.
- Honors your prefers-reduced-motion setting — the departures board and the domino scene render their end state with no animation.
- Interactive components (the live departures board, navigation) carry ARIA labels and roles for screen readers.
